The Department of Chemical Engineering at Fırat University began its educational activities in 1976 under the Faculty of Science. In 1982, it was incorporated into the Faculty of Engineering in accordance with the Higher Education Council (YÖK) Framework Law. Initially operating with a limited number of faculty members and students, the department now continues its education and research activities in two separate buildings, equipped with modern classrooms and advanced research laboratories, with an annual student quota of 54.
Candidates must hold a high school diploma and successfully pass the national university entrance examination (ÖSYM) to be placed in the program according to the relevant score type.
To be awarded a bachelor’s degree, students must successfully complete all courses in the curriculum, fulfill a total of 8 weeks of internship, and obtain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00.
Graduates can work in public institutions, national or international private sector companies, or research and development centers. They also have the opportunity to become entrepreneurs by starting their own businesses.
Students who successfully complete the undergraduate program may apply to graduate programs (master's and doctoral) to pursue an academic career.
As part of the curriculum, students are required to complete an internship period totaling 8 weeks in order to graduate.
